About Us

Hello!  

I’m Emily and I’m the mama behind mamatot. I live in Edinburgh with my hubby, our 2 boys Hector (4) & Innes (2) and our dog Texa.  I spent ten years working in the corporate world but becoming a mama changes things, so I’ve left all of that behind to start this little business.  All in the hope of following the dream of being my own boss, working from home with my Border Terrier sleeping at my feet and giving me the chance to watch my babies grow up… and of course bringing you the best in baby & children’s décor, accessories, toys and furnishings.

The mamatot dream began on a trip to Copenhagen when Hector was just a bump.  I had already ventured into the baby departments of UK stores and a few high-street shops, only to feel a little disappointment at the products available.  Everything seemed quite dated, and everything seemed to be baby pink, baby blue and lemon yellow. Everything was going to look so out of place in our minimalist Scandi home.

We were hopeful that our trip to Copenhagen might provide some inspiration for our soon to be decorated nursery and we were not disappointed.  The independent shops and department stores were such a revelation, filled with beautiful, modern products of the highest quality.  Travelling with only hand luggage, we returned to Scotland empty handed. I was sure that a quick internet search would fill our home with all the products we had seen, but it wasn’t to be and sourcing the products proved much harder than I had first expected.
